Stopping once more in Java, we flew to Surabaya. It's not great flying around Indonesia, especially as flying is Natalie's worst nightmare. But for instance, Sumatra would have taken 3 days to cover by land, and Java 11hours even by train! So our only option for the sake of our sanity is taking hour long flights. ... In the evening Terry went back to the room to get the cards and found a snake in the room by the door! had slithered under the door and was waiting......coloured brown, red and white and looking poisonous Terry opted to get help. ... it comes to the celebration the first time a child touches the ground, 210 days after birth.

Before getting to Malang we wanted to stop at a nearby waterfall, and after 7 hours ride we finally got to the entrance of the park where we would find it. The landscape in the park was rainforest like, and as we drove into the park we saw fires that people had started fires to open more area for agriculture. The walk from ...

... feathers don't stand up on display in the same way - their long tail feathers simply stay at the back. Very beautiful colours and markings still. We also saw some of the elusive white faced gibbons - the ones who woke us up every morning. They are the coolest - it's like they're wearing a white furry trouser suit! We saw them from afar, and they were hard to see, but that made it all the more worthwhile!

The hike finished with 'rafting' down the river back to ...
