We were hesitant to leave today, both of us concerned about those tormentors. We purchased umbrellas yesterday and headed out at 8:00 this morning, figuring weather reports have be known to be wrong. We walked in rain off and on all day. We never had a thunderstorm, just a nice gentle rain. We joked, "umbrella up, umbrella down". Today was one of our favorite walks on the Camino. We walked up through a ...

Entry to Llanes was spectacular. After driving 500km in 5 hrs the rain hit. 150mm in 30 mins. The town went under with police directing you away from the city. The last 10km took 1 1/2 hrs. Thank goodness the town drains quickly. The apartmentent is on the top floor with a balcony overlooking the centre of town. People watching beccomes an artform. Parking in the garage is interesting fitting the car with 50mm each side. Have to fold ...

It was a bliss of bends as we headed west along the north coast, passing Bilbao and Santander on the way while sticking to the back roads as much as possible. The sunflower palace (my name for it, not Gaudi's) was impressive! I would like to live in a house like that: grand, artistic, and a little pretentious, it ...

... signs that signify the route. Adrian was quite emotional at the sight of it all. Then they're gone. The whole thing takes about 15 mins to pass us by! Adrian wants to ride the climb they are about to make to so follows the route. It goes up to the pass of San Glorio, which is 17 miles up and for 90% of the time in the blistering sunshine, Not for the feint ...

Good lie in then went to a small village called La Vega to do a cycle ride up a mountain. The road is quiet and so beautiful ending up going through 2 short cool tunnels, then a dead end where there is a village called Cucayo. the route was up, up and constantly up for 12km and took me an hour and 10 mins and Adrian an hour. It was a good workout and sweaty. The hotel is lovely and they give us a local dish which I ...
