It seemed to me that the rope moved less than a meter back and forth. After a half an hour the match ended and the other side was declared the victor because they had ultimately moved the rope in their direction. Following the contest, everybody was cutting off pieces of the rope for good luck in the coming year.

The fast descent revealed that our brakes were less than adequate to stop the bikes if need be. It’s a good thing that there are only a couple of dozen vehicles on the island.
