I write from the shore of the magnificent Lake Bled. I have had such a beautiful day - the picture you can see first off is the view I'm currently seeing, absolutely stunning. My day started off well, being awoken by the kindest, most softly spoken lady I've met in a long time with the words, "Miss Suter, will you be leaving us today or would you like to stay longer?". Err, was definitely supposed to check out this morning and completely forgot to book ...

... and returned to the car. It's as pretty as a fairy tale town. From there we followed the road to the main highway to Bled, arriving mid afternoon and found our hotel Villa Preserin, right on the lake. Its key attraction is the location and view of Lake Bled as it's perched atop a hill with ...

... the castle perched on the hill overlooking the lake. Next stop was for lunch followed by a bit of an adventure by rowing to the island. It took about 20mins to reach the island and to find a spot to berth. We climbed up the stairs to the peak where the little church and kiosk are, and took in yet another magnificent view... and the 2nd icecream for the day! We rowed back to shore and saddled up again for a short ride around the corner to the toboggan run. Since breaking ...

... with walks all around with a back drop of the mountains. We picked up some lunch and headed on into the NP conscious of the long trip back through the mountains, but eve. then we underestimated the twists and turns and mountain ranges - it was just like Austria. Beautiful wooden chalets and big green ...
