My first exchange with native speakers (Emily)

... hang out with native Spanish speakers instead of with the Americans (who only want to speak English most of the time). My goal is to be able to speak Spanish dramatically better by the time I leave, and I believe this is the way to achieve that goal. Speaking Spanish inside the classroom but English in my free time will get me no where. This is exactly what our teacher, Lourdes, has told us since day 1 and I am so glad I finally took her advice.

I thought that our campus was the town, which is very small. I couldn't have been more wrong! Santander is huge! We got lunch (and finally ate a vegetable, not bread or ham) at this lovely restaurant. There, I had a salad garnished with tuna and an authentic Spanish tortilla on the side! A Spanish tortilla is ...

... bus station and bought my tickets to Oviedo tomorrow and then to Madrid on Sunday. I figured it would be easier to make plans if I knew what time I had to be where. I then started my walk around the city. I didn't really go in the city at all, since I was told there was nothing really to see, so I walked around the coast.

The coast in this city is really beautiful. You can see the coastline just across the river and out to lighthouses ...
