We arrived at Linz after sailing all night. Following an early breakfast we were loaded on a replica of the Majestic Imperator, the train used by the luxury Imperial Hapsberg family, for transport to Salzburg at the base of the Austrian alps. The train was very lavish as you would expect for the King and his family. The 2 hour trip took us through some very pretty country. Some interesting information from our guide - Linz has a population of ...

Cool and dry this morning as we arrived in Linz for a very early rise to catch the Majestic Imperator train to Salzburg. Linz is the home of VAI Steel. The train is an exact replica of the Austrian Royals train from the 19th Century. The trip from Linz to Salzburg took 2 hours, but we were treated like royalty. We had the Royal Box, and we were served champagne, wine and canapés; truly a memorable experience.
    As expected our ...

We managed to get to a number of churches and also took the funicular up to the castle, where we not only got to explore the 900 year old castle, but also had great views of the city. The castle dates back to 1077, initially a fort established by an archbishop. The ring walls and towers were built in 1462 under Prince-Archbishop Burk*********** Weißpriach.

... us sat around talking and joking. The time flew by and at 630 we had a roast meal followed by dessert put in front of us which was great.
Once dinner was finished we continued to chill out playing games and just enjoying our last night here before the majority of us left for Salzburg in the morning.

Before getting here we had spoken to a few people who had stayed and no one had a bad word to say. We can see why. Even though this place ...

... made it back to the ship in good time and sat on the sun deck so we could watch the bikes being put back on the ship which is quite a slick operation. We missed afternoon tea and cake but made it to the information evening. Had another tasty dinner with double pudding as it was Linda's birthday so our table had birthday cake and dessert. The boat will continue to travel throughout the night and we will reach Bratislava in the ...
