A small scare with my laptop today. i thought it was broken, or at least the power adaptor. my water bottle leaked yesterday in the bag with the charger in (not the laptop) and afterwards and currently the battery won't charge. hence i thought that was it, no more updates, no more gps or iPhone as all these units are charged from the laptop. i didn't ...
Cognac
... elixir! Une fois la visite de la ville terminee, nous avons visite le chateau de Francois 1er, qui est devenue au debut des annees 1800 le lieux de fabrication du cognac Otard.
En fin de journee, nous avons repris la route pour finalement atteindre La rochelle. A la noirceur et sous la pluie, nous avons mis un peu plus de temps a trouver notre hotel!

When we reach Bordeaux we drive round the city whilst Maryse points out the major sites and then park near the Opera House for a walking tour. First stop though is lunch in a very artisanal cafe in Parliament Square for assiette plates of fantastic local meats,cheese and vegetables ...

We are docked in the commercial port, there is no cruise terminal, no taxis,no buses and it is pouring down! We have all booked shuttle tickets into Soulac sur Mer ( $18 pp return) for 9.45 am so we grab brollies and waterproofs and off we go. The alternative is a shuttle to the Royan ferry, but this is now on its winter timetable so the ferries are few and far between so we decide against risking an overnight stop there.

Access from the A10 is easy the best route being from the Mirambeau exit as it is only 11 miles compared to 17 from the Montendre exit which does go via some narrow roads typical of the area.
