    ... and a van,.. and 2 workmen, arrived. On the side of the van,.. 'Pronto Intervento' which we assume is loosely translated as some sort of Rapid Response Unit. Like all Council work teams,.. they assessed the problem,.. broke out the pick and shovel,.. erected a triangular sign 'Slow Down - Roadworks Ahead',.. pulled the grate on the drain off,..     We exited les Contamines on a rocky path through the "forest". It was very pretty as it went right next to the stream. After half an hour we started the uphill descent. A family using donkeys to carry their load made us all jealous. The path had trees on either side and we stopped over a bridge to see a fairy tale river run beneath us.     ... all the tunnels when he was little. One tunnel the Frejus Tunnel was 13 kms long and cost us $60 fee!! Once we crossed the border into Italy, the roads were less good but the mountains were even bigger. We eventually got to Avigliana but 'Adriana’ couldn’t find our place.
