    ... heart attack did not strike. Neither of us saw the 'Beware of Cane' sign! The proprietor returning with fresh laundry, homemade crustini and a warm smile, noted the desperation and offered us coffee, cake and the advice to hitch down to the next town.

    Lore has it that the man was sickish and weak. Like hell! This path was to ask so much! Whilst we tried not to follow his complete complement of virtues, we were to learn about humility!

    ... in Catolica, only about 5km from our hotel but he lived in Coriano. This town was included in our ride home from San Marino. It is obvious as you ride through Coriano that Simoncelli was well loved. Flags fly from the lamp posts and there are several memorials in the town to him. The race track at Misano - just up the road has also been renamed after him. A fitting memorial for a very memorable rider and character.

    ... even a display of Mutoids all over the area - looked like the extras from a film set.

    After wandering around for a couple of hours and some lunch we got back on the bike and headed back to our hotel. This time we stuck to the country roads where Greg says the countryside is prettier than Tuscany - I couldn't agree!

    The ride back took us through Misano so it was a no brainer that we would go and have a look at the track now named after Marco Simoncelli. We ...

    ... the rocks.

    In order to return to the main city without getting lost, I had to go back up to get down. I'm not crazy out of shape, but San Marino is steep, and I was feeling it, so I was glad to sit down for lunch.
