Apparently tourists are exempt from police checkpoints, we didnt even take our backpacks off the bus (altho we also did just stand back and play dumb – ignorance is bliss :))... But really dunno what the search was about, as they had stopped all the other buses ahead of us too. Once all was packed I and others left and headed into Cafalate for breakfast.

A few of the old team left and started their journey to Tilcara and just after that I left also. Within ten miles the wonderful Argentinean scenery had begun. This was yet another mountain pass but was of a totally different nature from any of the others.
