    ... 1800s. They didn't want to walk on the rocks on the beach so had something nicer built. Nice was the place to be and the Russian royal family also frequently visited. There is an impressive Russian cathedral here, but unfortunately it is being renovated so we only got a few pictures from the outside.     ... to Sunday, and then flea markets on Mondays. They were situated in the Old Town which is at the base of a hill with castle ruins at the top. Its a really nice area to just wander and see where you end up! The views from the top of the castle are really beautiful looking over the ocean and port.
    The time in Nice was a really wonderful way to relax, have fun and end the 4 weeks travelling with Sam. It was definitely strange getting on the train to Rome by myself! ...

    ... I opt to sit on the water's edge with my legs in the water, while she goes barreling in head first! Mamma doesn't want to go into labor because of the cold water so she stayed out entirely.     ... dark by now so we stopped above the city and took some photos looking down on the harbor and all the lights. I have never in my life seen so much wealth as I did driving into Monte Carlo. All the cars parked on the side of the road were either Bentley's, Ferrari's, Range Rover's or Roll Royce's. Joe was happy to see quite a few Jag's as well. Regular people walking around really looked out of place. There were women in gowns and men in tuxedos ...

    ... on time and caught the local train into France. It was crowded because it was a public holiday. That's the third public holiday we have struck in sIxteen days. Found accommodation after a bus ride and walk up a big hill. View of Nice very nice.

    So we boated, trained, buses and walked today. Maybe we should have flown


    May 10 - the day after.

    Slept well last night. Rest morning after yesterdays ordeal.
