I arrived in Manizales after a very windy ride, where several people on the bus reacted as if they just came off a crazy roller coaster. I took a taxi to my hostel, which I booked over the phone in my broken Spanish and found out that due to the famous Feria, not only were most hostels fully booked, but their prices had doubled. ... beans had popped twice and were now very dark and slightly larger. We had a taste of them but they were a bit bitter to eat as sweets. Lunch time! We were served up a delicious columbian soup with potatoes, sweetcorn, chicken and onion. We could stir in our own fresh cream. Yum. ... a mix of chorizo and croissant. Their entire menu consisted of chori-yaki, chori-mignon, etc.
I really liked my vegetarian burrito; Fedra had a salad with lettuce, cheese, chorizo and some other stuff but thought it a bit plain.
I also had a lovely drink they called Uvazo: fresh grape juice, cloves and cinnamon. Yummie! Very refreshing and spicey.
