... the mountains again. Quite a show.

After lunch we pushed on to Verona where we had front row seats to watch a production of Carmen in the outdoor Roman amphitheatre. The location was fabulous and it was so nice to see the old ruin being put to such a beautiful use unlike the roman amphitheatre in Rome. ... and we managed to avoid a lengthy traffic jam on the motorway. The drive down to Como was very steep, with just the occasional glance of Lake Como far below and the attractively wooded hills on the other side. Our trusty satnav delivered us faithfully to our destination, a B and B set inside a converted seventeenth century monastery. There seemed to be no sign of such a thing. Just as we were starting to puzzle over what to do next, a friendly and dapper gentleman approached us ...

    Hospital day today

... by bus to pick up the x-ray disc. This was surprisingly easy. There seem to be no counters beyond the front entrance to the hospital, so one just wanders around and grabs anyone with an ID badge and gabble about Mio Madre and her broken arm and wave the paperwork. Eventually somebody went and got somebody who went and got somebody else and they disappeared for a while and bought the disc. An interesting experience.
