      So I got into Zagreb and the bus station had a lovely map with a bunch of hostels on it, several of which were really close by.       ... a large city with no idea where to go, zero local currency in our pockets and just an address of our hostel to work with. We found our way through the subway system and walked a couple kilometers with our bags to find our hostel. At first we were a little apprehensive about this hostel because it was on the 3rd floor of a residential apartment building and in order to get up we had to get into this 2 person semi-manually operated elevator.       ... so we had a bit of a chat because the had been traveling for a few months. We got to the lakes at around lunchtime , 2 hr van trip, and rob and I did a walk that took about 3 hrs all up. Got heaps of photos. So the bus for split left at 230 which obviously we did not make. So we took a bus at 515 to Zadar which we had never heard of but turned out to be an amazing place!.
