... became a big contender. Just then this small fishing village, like an awakening giant, came out of its sleep and began attracting, like bees to honey, larger numbers of Europeans, Canadians and Argentines. These travellers, like us, discovered clean white sand beaches, cute little stores, the omnipresent shops plying T-shirts with awkward paragraphs were few, small ...

... day and test it out myself. On Sunday, I rented myself a scooter and drove to the southernmost point of Cozumel, to Punta Sur EcoPark. Despite the bumpy dirt road, the beach was amazing, as well as the coral reef. While I was snorkelling the shallow reef, a barracuda followed me for the entire hour. Passing me and disappearing, then coming right at me and circling me a little. The lighthouse offered a beautiful view of the park, and the rest of the ...

Day 3 was another lazy beach day. The azure water was lovely and refreshing.

Early to bed that evening as we have a day tour to Chichen Itza booked for the next day.
