... where we shared a very decadent cream cake. During our brief walk to the cafe we witnessed a triathlon in progress. We only saw the running part, but assumed they swim in the lake at some point. We actually saw a long swimmer in the lake. As the temperature here today is only about 16 degrees, we thought he was a pretty hardy soul! We bought some supplies for lunch from the supermarket near our hotel, deposited ...

... soon after arriving in Bled how the town got it's name. They bleed you dry! It was pouring rain when we got off the bus, so we had to get one of the city's two taxis to take us to our hotel (Kompas Hotel). It cost us 12 euros for a ride that took just 2-3 minutes! Caravans , trailers, motorcycles and all varieties of camping equipment passed us on the other motorway going north as schools open shortly. Huge amount of traffic travelling fairly fast with at least threes lanes each way . Lake Bled is amazing . A glacial lake fairly small ( about 45 mins to walk around it - not me though) with an island in one end . This island has the most amazing catholic chapel on it . A lovely ...

... the middle of the water! It was not meant to be! In lieu of the sunset, we sat and enjoyed the view, before heading back to town for dinner.

The next day was a big day. Four kilometres outside of Bled, lies the Vintgar Gorge. Since we were out of season, there were no buses running out to the Gorge, so we got on our bikes and cycled to the start of the boardwalk. The ride was tough to say the least and Apeksha spent ...
