... The route took us along the coast weaving in and out out villages, through market gardens, maize fields and farms. The smells of the farms were interspersed with the smell of the fishing boats and mussel and oyster fields. The coast was amazing because the tide was out and there was about 500 metres + until the water. People were walking out carrying fishing lines and someone was wheeling their bicycle. It wasn't dry sand, it was wet clay type of ...

It rained a lot during the night, quite loud on our attic roof. We had planned a slower start to the day, but on checking the weather forecast we found there was a window of dry weather between 7 and 11am . We have become very practiced at packing up and loading the bikes and so did it in record time this morning. The tide was out and because it was 4pm, thousands were leaving and also a few like us arriving. We had a look round the Abbey and gardens and through the streets. It was crowded at times but I couldn't imagine what it would be like at peak times. It was so amazing and such a thrill to be there. We will go back in ...

... or a combination of the three. Anyway I thought I would pace myself in order to last the 53 km. The last 10 kms were up and down hills though Geoff said he didn't classify them as hills, I certainly did. However I managed to keep going albeit in the lowest gear. Even coming into town passed the chateau was up a hill so I was pretty tired when we finally got to our hotel, Hotel Les Voyageurs set right in the centre of town. It's a ...

... went to walk over to the monte to scout out for any good places to eat. When she went over coop, quin, and I walked around for a bit and got our first good view of the monte. It looked very impressive like a little castle out on a rock. When Julie got back she told us about a couple of places with three course menus at good prices so we headed over for dinner. There was a boardwalk to walk to the monte that ...
