    ... is crowned with the pinnacle of the abbey, complete with gold statue of St Michael.The town winds itself around the mount, old houses - many of them now either tourist shops or cafés, restaurants and hotels.     ... dinner time. Wouldn't you know it, but it was just after 2:00PM. We drove to several places and all they were serving was drinks. One place felt sorry for us and she made us some ham and cheese sandwiches, and we had a beer. She got a nice tip.
    After that we headed home for a short nap and then back to St. Malo for some sightseeing and some dinner and wine. All in all a very nice ...

    ... 8220;quick sand” or VERY unstable sand with unpredictable tides (remember….we’re talking 8th century…there was no app for that)!! Well, what with tidal waters, sediment from the nearby rivers, manmade “land” and such….the “Rock” is now steps away from the shore. Still a 2 mile walk from the nearest Normandy town across the sands (and there IS a tour – and app for that)! ...

    Stayed Bayeaux, woke up to full on French breakfast of croissants, apricot tart (Yulias favourite), crepes and bacon & eggs. We were picked up by a lady named Sunny for our 3hr toe of the D-Day beaches and memorials.     This morning we visited the Bayeux Tapistry which proved to be a work of art. They are not sure who did it but it is a 70 metre long Tapistry depicting the William the Conquerer leaving Normandy with his army to sail to Hastings to take revenge on Harold who made himself King of England when Edward died.
