          ... so (L-R) we are me, Dario, Alex, and Alice, with Bernard and Justin in back. A wonderful bunch of people who were so much fun to spend a month with!

          Later, everyone but Dario and Alice joined a couple of students from the other class and me at a restaurant for a lovely "farewell" dinner. There I learned, among other things, that Justin is a Franciscan, not Buddist, priest. What are the odds that two of six students would be Catholic ...

          I'm packing up most of my things tonight, so that on Saturday morning I can be ready to take the early train to Venice. I've got a hotel room near the Maestre station and will explore the city for two days before leaving on Monday for Milano. I think they have wifi at the hotel, so if I'm not too exhausted, I'll try to update you with what I've seen.

          ... most smaller streets have the sidewalk on the same level as the street pavement with only a difference in surface materials or design to differentiate between them.

          ... tomorrow: I'm going on a school-sponsored tour of the Castello di Monselice at Arqua' Petrarca. I really can't afford to take the time away from my studies, but I also can't afford to pass up a chance to see things (with an English-speaking guide and dinner included) while I'm here. I'll just have to catch up later.

          ... shopping... Venice... Glass...!!!! We browsed a LOT ....the most beautiful work I have ever seen...and bought a little...especially enticed by front men after visiting Murano to see the glass blowing... A captive market!!!
          Our day pass was running out so we headed back to our hotel and decided the local area needed exploring for another meal..... Pizzas???? Lots of ...
