    ... on way down, manteigas, 40 euro, hotel booked out but has another house was so much better. So off to Douro valley for the night, found fort Transcoso by chance. Such a different fort, old tombs 700 ad carved into granite also megaliths which are ancient burial grounds from 3000 years ago in surrounding villages.     We've been taking it easy. Allen is pretty much in bed all day. Leg spasms prevent him coming down for breakfast, taking walks or going out for meals. We e-mailed Dr. Saavedra at Kaiser and he thinks the treatment sounds reasonable and we should see some improvement in the next week. Yesterday he seemed a little better. Today we aren’t sure.     ... not to go to Evora, 3 hours away but to stay in Coimbra. We transfer to the Ibis Hotel which is modern, has better beds, better parking, Internet in the room, English speaking TV and a small restaurant. It doesn't have the charm of the Astoria but is much more practical. It is raining hard and should continue all day so we don't mind staying in a bit. We will stay here another 4 nights.
