After a few hours sailing we arrive at the island of Mljet . We harbour and enter the National park . There are two main lakes and a small island, st Mary's , at one end where a 12th century church and monastery sit. We walk beside the first lake to a small bridge where we catch a boat on the second lake to take us to the island. The monastery is under renovation . we have a few swims and ...

We woke to the sound of the engines of the boat starting up and begin to pull out of Gruz Harbour en route to Mljet Island. Feeling very excited to be officially sailing Croatia we jumped out of bed and stood on the deck as we passed by the Croatian coastline. ... off by the Christians 300 years later.

Bit of a slow drive back as the coast road often averages only 60kmh or so - and there are plenty of dare-devil man racers over-taking in the most unlikely places, that add to the excitement.

Dinner tonight is back to see Ivor for a last night family nosh - piles of whole calamari, sea bass and red snapper, with a home made sweet wine on ice to start. So thoroughly full we waddled back and BED. Travel tommow........

... in the ocean once and now it's James' turn for one get of Jail free. Croatia actually won Olympic gold in water polo, so I think James should tell people he lost the ring playing those guys :) I joined some others on a trip into the national park and its two saltwater lakes. Apparently the birds there is what this island was famous for. Can't say I saw any myself but we sure enjoyed the views and the walk. I ...
