This lovely city is set amongst large lakes and dominated by the Schloss (castle) which is on an island in one of the lakes. We drove into town early and parked, then got breakfast at a cafe/bakery in the main street. Then a service in the Dom or cathedral. All in German of course but very much the same format as the Lutheran services in Australia, There has been a castle on the island in ...

After breakfast we headed to the small ferry that shuttles across the estuary between Poland and Germany. A short crossing that costs nothing but one wonders why no bridge has been built. However, the cobblestone road turned out to be quite noisy at night. Apart from that, it was a lovely hotel which had been there a long time, and lots of its history was on display. The outdoor beer garden was in an excellent position along the water, in full view of ...

Today a 30min meandering walk to view the exhibits at the Neues Museum on Berlin's Museum Island. Then drive back to Hamburg via the impressive Schwerin Palace, a grand ducal residence and seat. Unfortunately we missed the guided tour and made do with an audio commentary via headphones. We lost half an hour during the drive due to a traffic jam resulting from an inexplicable transition from autobahn to a single lane road ending at a set of traffic lights. ...

... is what I've been wanting for some years now. But now it scares me a little because (Stark mode) 'winter is coming'. Yes, I'm actually a bit scared to go into this winter without some reserves on my body. I thought that I wasn't loosing weight lately because I've been eating quite a lot of chocolate and other bad stuff. Guess I was wrong. Im burning more calories than I think. Despite the Mosquitos, I sleep in my hammock under my ...
