      After soaking in all the fresh air and clean water and powder skiing we could in 10 days, (it was so nice to see the kids detached from electronic devices!), we headed home to Lyon and to our new flat, leaving the snow and a little Christmas magic behind us.

      ... resort of Risoul. A fairytale setting, you could never grow tired of. Throughout our days in the French Alps we attempted to ski by day and party by night...of course the later we nailed, as for the skiing... alcohol consumed definitely hindered performances on the slopes.


      Now I would love to write that after a week on the slopes we were all professional-like skiers who had developed the profound ability to parallel ski and nail ...

      We've left Lourmarin with some sorrow, but soon perked up when we got into the Alps. It's been a perfect day, the trees are turning Autumn colours and although it's 26 degrees there's snow on the high tops. Briancon has this amazing fort built to keep the Italians out many years ago.       ... station in France, we then headed to the Buffet Carriage to take in the views. They've got windows in the upper part of the carriage here, so you can get yourself a beverage and take in the scenery. It's still impressive but the only downside that the weather wasnt so great and so we didnt see it's full majesty as clouds were covering some of the largest mountains.

      ... by dessert at our favourite gelateria on the beach, turned out to be a great way to pass the time. Friday is washing and cleaning day so it's off to the Lavenderia (laundrette).
