Laundry day today...it hangs outside our bedroom window, and it is really windy today. Sure hope it is on the line when we get back this afternoon! The Celebrity Equinox is in port today so we were worried about getting the bus to Nice, and sure enough, there was a long lineup, but we managed to get on, even if we had to stand all the way. There were a few museums in town, but we chose to skip them. We didn't have much time before the closed, plus they had a €10 entry fee (they were free prior to 2015...). We are also at the point of the trip when we don't feel like we have to explore every random castle / royal residence / museum. Maybe if we had an extra day here.
So seeing Nice was basically strolling along the beach and then a short walking tour ...
... a view of the countryside. On the way back we checked out a few of the other streets as well as the little center with a small fountain. I bought a beautiful pair of buttery soft leather gloves. This is a great
place to shop and buy artwork. I am so glad we took this extra trip.
Tonight for dinner we ate in a small place I had pizza. The crust tasted like pita bread. My husband bought mussels but they weren't as good as last night's.
... to the small grocery and picked up a sandwich to share for lunch and some pastries.
After a rest, we had a dinner at 7:30 at the Restaurant Franchine, where we had pig terrine, escargots (in the shells!). We also experienced a hot cast iron dish from the escargots causing the glass charging plate to crack with a huge pop. Dad and I both jumped a bit but thankfully no glass injured anyone and the plate had broken fairly cleanly in half. The embarrassed waiter ...
We arrived in Nice, it really looks like Australia. Which I haven't seen in a while..
So when we arrived we went for a walk around town and we found like a theme park of christmas stuff.
It had a ferris wheel and an ice skating ring.
And after that we went to subway.
Then we went back home to go to sleep.
