I remarked in the last entry that given tourism is responsible for most jobs here you might expect that friendliness towards paying visitors, but the way the same intrinsic warmth had obviously penetrated this chap, who didn't work in tourism and has lived here long before the first 'tourists' arrived, struck us both.

Today we landed in San Jose, the capital city of Costa Rica a city where 1 in 5 people live well below the poverty line. This was country number six on our itinerary and as we landed and sorted out some local currency I said to Stuie, I'm so glad that while all these countries have different currencies to get use that I was very grateful they all had one thing on common....and that's SPANISH. ... of people that we met in Cabuya....we were certainly created to have relationships. People are way more important than a beautiful home.

More funny tidbits. There are no postal addresses here....mail is not delivered. You can get a PO box in Cobano and if someone mails you a letter it will sit there at the PO, but you can write the location of the person by saying on the letter....Deliver to Hotel Celaje, ...
