Lazy day in Parma

We felt we needed an easy day today, for reasons explained later, and had an fairly late breakfast before strolling out to see the remaining churches and artworks in Parma. Incidentally, the trattoria we had intended to return to last night was closed, so we tried another - the Trattoria Tribunale - which turned out to be not only more pleasant, but also cheaper!

If one sits or stands in a specific place anywhere in the city, one can photograph a dog every 5 seconds!!! Tried and timed!





In a cafe they are lunching.... They help go shopping for make-up.... They go clothes shopping in Zara.... ...

... of the Mannerist and Baroque rooms being closed to the public today paled into insignificance compared to the pleasure of the half hour spent in front of this glorious little gem, almost being able to smell it!

Once the visit to the gallery was over then of course it was break for a strong coffee to try to get Joy back to earth before the next gallery..... The pinocoteca Stuard.....270 artworks in 22 rooms!!

... hotels (ours certainly is) some pleasant bars (we found one or two of those of course!) and at least two good trattoria style restaurants. Oddly enough, restaurants, of whatever price range, really have to be looked for - they don't pop up at every corner like many other towns.

Two other things you should know about Parma is the number of bikes, and the number of dogs. Bikes tool along the wide streets almost silently, and few ...

Up and down, and the sun was starting to set. I'd been in the hills for a few hours and I had no idea how close I was to the coast.
