... I was amazed at the natural beauty of the surroundings and excited by the 6km path around the lark where there were many people walking, running and biking. Boats, paddle boarders, rowers and swans all shared the lake. We finished the day with a lovely meal of tai tai (rice with vegetables and chicken in a savoury sauce) and local libations. The lake looked lovelier by night if that is even possible. ...
5 euro if you steal food from the buffet here so no apple for snacking on later today for me.
Today we drove around Lake Bled and headed off to another Lake about 30 mins away through picture postcard scenery. Lots of farms in this area.
Back in Bled we drove up to the castle which was a little underwhelming, it's drama comes from viewing it across the lake.
Gordon, Helen and I then set off ...
... didn't have enough time to explore. Given it's got more or less the the same population as Geelong the number of buildings and public infrastructure is quite impressive. Caught the funicular up the hill to the castle for views over the city.
Tonight we arrived in Bled. The attraction here being Lake Bled with the country's only island in it and the castle overlooking the lake.
... equally impressive was Paul finding a car space just outside the apartment block. As we didn't intend to use the car, unloaded it. Think the cases have been quietly multiplying and gaining weight. At least the apartment block had a lift, even if its capacity was only one person and one bag.
Apartment large with high ceilings and plenty of space to unpack. Internet, metro, ice-cream parlour, pedestrian mall all as stated. This is going to work well.
... Had the information about St Pauls and The Man from Nazareth translated....... geschlossen today but open Tuesday. Interestingly, the hotel staff were also surprised that the tourist sites were closed on Monday.
Shops with cards. Seventh heaven. And suitable cards. Wont know myself. I've been struggling all through Italy and France to find appropriate greeting cards.
