Monohara Hotel is the place to stay when visiting Borodupur. You cannot beat the location on the temple grounds and the free unlimited access to Borodupur that comes with the price of your room. They offer the sunrise and sunset tours to guests for half-price, which allows extended visiting times without crowds. The grounds are magnificent with sprawling lawns, parks and gardens that have asphalt walking paths that connect to all parts of the compound, including the temple, museum, shops, and meditation center. Don't expect much as far as rooms are concerned. They are very small with well-worn furnishing and unreliable electrical sockets. Terraces are nice for enjoying the gardens and relaxing outside. Both the breakfast restaurant and the main restaurant have a wide selection of local and western dishes for reasonable prices. Food is excellent.

Nice hotel within walking distance of Borobudur. The rooms are well appointed, though looks as if it needs some upgrading, but for the price we paid to get so close to Borobudur, the hotel served its function of providing us with a roof over our heads.

Manohara is a great hotel with great value especially if you want to see sunrise at the temple. If there's two of you, the cost is very affordable. Would recommend it to everyone who want to see the sunrise at Borobudur.

Borobudur Temple is 1,200 years old and was built as a monument to Buddha by the Buddhist kingdom that ruled the island at the time. It is built in the shape of a step pyramid, with 3 levels and 9 platforms. It took 84 years to build and tells the life story of Buddha depicting scenes of how he gained his wisdom from childhood until he reached …

Today we embarked on the scenic Argo Dwipangga train number 10, which traverses central Java from the northern coast to the central western coast of Java during its 8 hour ride. The "executive class" train has all the comforts, 2 plugs at each seat to stay charged, comfy reclining seats with footrests, A/C, food service, and nonstop Indonesian …

Our first destination in Indonesia was Yogyakarta, Java. We took a flight from Nagoya to Denpasar first and then headed for Yogyakarta immediately on another flight. Denpasar airport was not as crowded as I expected and we had much time to connect to the domestic flight. The flight took us only one hour. As soon as we arrived at Yogyakarta, we took …
