    ... special trip to join us all tonight because they would be working the next day and would not be able to join us for lunch at Heichi's. Everyone left at about 10 pm and we had a nice quiet visit with Shunichi and Kiyoko. They showed us videos of both Eriko's and Hiroko's weddings.     ... are not as a high as the Alps the snow seems excellent.

    The hotel at the airport was, well an airport hotel so not much write home about… but Japan on the other hand…

    Can’t wait to chat to our Japanese friends back at JSK to explain what a country they’ve got.

    ... finally got down to the bottom and re-charged in a really cool vegan restaurant called Roots. We said goodbye to Adam and then off for a final afternoon of family skiing and the kids were amazing. Sinead also managed the Olympic downhill section and the by the time Sinead gave up with 30 mins after a couple of nasty falls, the kids carried on with about 5 back to runs. ...

    Simon who was the father of the Australian family gave us a tip that the 3hr private lesson was the same price as 2 kids at ski school for 4 hours so we booked up a lesson and headed up the valley to Iniwate. Adam was a real cool instructor. He was an engineer in the Yukon but during the winter not much happens so he agrees unpaid leave with his company and does a 3 month ski season somewhere ...

    ... and it was just great to be up in the clean cool air – so different from Bangkok. We went down to the bottom of the mountain for lunch and met the kids in the canteen, laughing with the instructor. Great to see them so confident.
