... expensive bikes will be a bit of fun as well.

We disembark at Calais and were off. East bound, Germany in our sights. Just the one stop in France overnight on the way.

Things got a little testing for me though, after only a few hours. I will spend about eight hours on a motor bike over a twenty four hours period, and most of it was in cold rain with a chilling wind.

-got rolling to nearby Namur and were pleased with how fast the Belgian expressways are.
-a stop in the info center got us well oriented and armed with a handy map of the citadel in English.

2 cases of wine (ranging from pretty decent bordeaux down to 8 euro box wine - aka later to be converted to mulled wine as otherwise undrinkable).

Camped for the night in the Vallee de la Meuse very near the Belgian border and joined in a local French guy's birthday party by accident, though at least got to enjoy plenty of Belgian beer which I would have missed out on otherwise.

... front lines, battalion nationalities and areas of advancement as the war story progressed. The tribute paid to the masses of Australian and New Zealand soldiers lost in this war was truly moving, if not heartbreaking.

We then moved on to the Tyne Cot memorial cemetery where grave stones as far as the eye could see included large portions of Australian soldiers, both identified and 'known unto God'.

Today we drove about 200km in the ****ing rain ... Both wet till the bone!! Luckily we found a small camping with rooms for rent. The room is actually very big, with a kitchen included. After everything was unpacked, I enjoyed a warm shower after having very cold the whole day long. Afterwards we enjoyed a nice meal in the local restaurant. It is now 21.15h but I guess I will not be awake for a long time anymore. Sleep ...
