Ajaccio is a beautiful peaceful island, definitely worth a revist. It sits in the Mediterranean 50 miles west of Italy and 100 miles south of France. Not part of the mainland as I thought but is

Over 65000 population over the entire area. This city is the birthplace of Napoleon in 1769 who became the French Emperor in 1804 and spread Revolution through Europe and in 1811 made Ajaccio the capital in Corsica.

... Another quaint town, and very commercialised with lots and lots of cafe's, restaurants and shops, boutiques. There was a huge Ferry as big almost as a cruise ship pulled in from Monaco ( we think) carrying passengers and their cars to the Island for their holiday break.
    Monday 3rd August
Went walking at 7am as usual, it's usually very quite in the morning, as last night we were serenaded by a band not far away ...
