Chic, some glam, clearly lots of money, great boutiques and friendly people were everywhere.     Stopover en route to Basse gorges du Verdon. Wild camping in the town. We sneaked in a canoe trip in the morning but as we returned the storms were brewing. Just as we left the heavens opened up. It didn't stop until 9.30 pm. We couldn't find the Aire so we pulled up in the village battened down the hatches and watched England V France Ladies in the World Cup Football.     ... the swim we had our baguettes that we had made but I didn't eat much of my bread because I was feeding it to the fish. We hired a blue pedal boat for two hours. We pedalled down into a canyon. The canyon was about 1km from the beach. I put my hand in the water because I needed a swim because it was so hot but the water was freezing.     ... picked it up but it's an absolute poverty model. It's three cylinders and must be no more than 1200cc. It couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. I can only overtake if its downhill and my windows are wound up. I know I said I was heading for the Mediterranean coast but I got to the small town i was aiming for and there was a sign saying the 4,000 car park was full ! That was my cue to leave.     Many of the houses have lines of irises standing proud outside, as if they are on sentry duty. Mostly of the purple variety, reminiscent of a van Gogh painting, although a few had yellow ones too.
