... but we are getting there.

The trade off is we are in a beautiful environment. Very dry air, and hard water. Altitude also affects the temperature water boils at, and how long things take to cook. Soft boiled egg is 6 minutes. Fortunately there is an App to help with such things. Also means that hangovers can arrive early and hit hard. Possible due in part to dehydration, but alt also contributes to less oxygen in the blood. Up and down stairs is often hard ...

Dinner was very communal, lots of pasta, bread & wine. Julie & I had to stop twice on the way back from the dinner hut to our hut. A very social night ...

Dinner in a lovely dining room, food pasta as usual. ...

      ... Hotel de la Paix.

When I got to my room, I thought perhaps I had arrived in Lilliput vs. Lausanne as my room was
elf-sized. Very small, about the size of a 8x10 prison cell. However, I was on the 5th floor with a balcony overlooking Lake Geneva, so all was not lost. I will also say that the bathroom is the most pristinely clean bathroom I have ever seen in my life. I mean CLEAN. It was so clean you could eat off the floor. It ...

      Goodbye Leysin!

A travel blog entry by apincumbe on Aug 15, 2009

So, on Thursday, I cleaned, packed, did grades, etc. I got a lot done. After all that, I got ready for the banquet. Since last time we had to sit on a steep, grassy hill in the dark, in our dressy outfits, I decided to dress up less this time. I just wore black pants and a nice shirt instead of a dress. And I wore sandals instead of heels- I practically fell off the mountain last time. I headed over to Savoy and found my family. We had dinner, then went on to the ...
