Hotel Le Baron de Biarritz
Travel Blogs from Biarritz
A bright and early start it was for this adventure off to San Sebastián or Donostia in Euskera, however we began they day with an interesting start! With a completely whacko night in regards to our neighbours coming in and out at every single hour, then the lights flicking on and off due to power issues, we finally awoke to our alarm at 7:30 to where we then realized that there was no electricity at all! That I have to say was an interesting experience, we ...
... you pay right there. If your pinxto is better warm, you can ask the waiter to heat it up for you.
-You eat your pinxtos.
-And then, for more variety, you leave the bar and repeat the whole process at another bar.

... amazing fews of the bay. There is a giant statue of Christ up at the summit, very similar to 'Christ the redeemer' over in Rio.
The old part of town has some narrow streets with plenty of bars offering pinxos (mostly seafood but quite a few smoked meats and cheeses)
Visited the museum 'De San Telmo' all about Basque history. Modern building fused with a refurbished church and cloister.
Afer 3 days of solid rain in San Sebastian, I decided to leave and head for Bilbao.
Cycled in to Biarritz the next day to explore the town. Small cove with some very expensive houses and an aquarium perched right on the edge of the bay.
Surfers can be seen along the bay, watched by the shoppers in town. Large waves can be seen hitting the sides of the road and reaching some 100m up in the air.
Spent the next few days here surfing.
