    ... and its still tres chic in certain spots. Around the Market Hall, its full on lovely with great bars, fabulous food shops and cool restaraunts. You can also buy some serious threads here, as designer stores abound. We did indulge in some serious shopping but only for food- fresh,locally caught at St Jean De Luz- tuna!     ... not too hot and not windy. Large part of the road up in shade which really helped. Being a sunday morning not many cars t all but quite a few bike riders. We overtook some but were overtaken by others. Really enjoyable ride and not too hard at all. It gave us both great encouragement and i definitely want to attempt the even harder climb of the col de Galibier.     ... with chairs and water. I don't mind admitting I had a wee blub. All of which leads me to where I am now. It's costing twice my daily budget but I'm happy. It's a 13th century mansion which had a second story added in the 17th century. It was also home to the mistress of Henry the 4th. The night before we met Em and Chontel (NZ and Aus) travelling together, who quickly insisted on insuring that we wear wrist braces otherwise we would regret it – in a nice way of course.
