After a nice hotel breakfast, we travelled by bus to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port (yes, that is the name of a city - complete with a mouthful of hyphens) to experience a farmers market, a small taste of the "Camino de Santiago" trek and a nice Basque lunch from the Navarro region. Tomorrow we take a bus to visit a small village at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains to learn about the "Camino" or historic trek that millions of pilgrims have begun in this town (Saint Jean-Pied-de-Port) over the ...

... not too hot and not windy. Large part of the road up in shade which really helped. Being a sunday morning not many cars t all but quite a few bike riders. We overtook some but were overtaken by others. Really enjoyable ride and not too hard at all. It gave us both great encouragement and i definitely want to attempt the even harder climb of the col de Galibier. At the top in the village Alpe D'Huez, in fact almost next door to the shop where we rented the bikes, we found ...
