... Late afternoon we drove up to Cres. The town is right on the water. No cars in town and gorgeous little alleyways everywhere. We spent an hour getting lost in the lane ways, then stopped for dinner. We both had the Cres specialty, lamb cutlets. They were very tasty! We're parked right next to the water. Hopefully it's a bit more sheltered and not as windy as last night! The island is so quiet, we can't believe how quiet it is, nor imagine how busy it must be in summer! Everything is closed. But we quite like having all the roads and beaches to ourselves ...
... to be at the ocean we went for a swim! We had heaps of fun jumping off the cliff and rock hopping. After a sandwich and rest on the rocky beach we hiked to the blue caves at U. Zanja beach. We swam out to the caves and headed in. It was so cool! The water so blue; we were illuminated! We didn't stay in for long, and headed back to land to watch the sun start to set. A 40 minute hike back to Percy and we watched the sunset. A cracker day! So happy to be by the ...
... Rijeka was crazy - traffic like Melbourne, and Mat said he felt like he was in the favelas in Brazil. We were going to stop but it was so crazy, we didn't. We kept driving to Krk Island, where the ferry departs to Cres Island. Before we knew it the heater was off and we were cruising with the windows down!! Feels like we're on a beach holiday!! We booked the 6.15pm ferry, and enjoyed our first Croatian beer while we waited for it. Only a 25 ...
