It was decided to take a day off from driving and use up some of out train pass that still has a few train trips on it. We originally purchased passes that provide us 10 days of train travel over a month long period. Our mathematical wizardry determined that we have some trips "in the bank". Anyway, we are off to Koln for the day.

Suddenly the tour commenced and we were encourage to stay close to the tour guide leaving all the responsibility up to the individual to not get lost or lose sight of the guide, something I would consider if in a school tour would be to have a teacher at the back and not allow any student behind. ... astonishing grandeur I was exhausted but well pleased with my day. I decided to use the public transport that Germany has to offer and took a tram one block from the cathedral to Barbarossaplats stop just 2 minutes from my hotel. In total it took me fourteen minutes, and cost just two Eurp, to get back instead of twenty five of walking and although this doesn’t seem much quicker the fact that I could relax for about ten minutes was tremendously appreciated. ...

... tips for being comfortable on long plane trips, I chose seats right at the back, which provide much greater leg room. This does expose you to a little more noise, but if you buy a good set of headphones you can’t hear anything outside anyway.
