Arriving in Hirtshals we had to walk about 2km from the train station to the ferry terminal, a little bit of a trudge with a big backpack and the wind of the North Sea blowing in your face, but we made it. ... full of coffee cups, cokes and red bulls. Second sleep in the car in the car next to a little pond round the back of a hotel and had my first experience of a not fully dark night as I looked towards the North and my destination the next morning. Slept that night full of anticipation for having finished with the boring driving and looking forward to Norway and beyond.

The boat is big and it took us a while to get oriented. At 10 pm when the tax-free shop opened there was a rush to the shop by most people on board. Strangely enough even tax-free it is still
expensive here to buy alcohol. That promises for the rest of the holiday. At least we
now have a small cellar in the car for the coming days …
