Today was going to be relaxing, no excuses. We cycled into
Sion and caught a train up to the tourist center of Zermatt which is famous for
its amazing view of the Matterhorn.
The train trip was uneventful and we sat back like rich
people watching the scenery go by from air-conditioned comfort. One change of
train at Visp and two hours later we were in Zermatt.

is seen today. One of the most remarkably things about the Pyramids are the
giant rocks balanced precariously on top of the pillars.
From here we planned to walk around the mountain to the town
of Veyzonnaz where we would catch a bus back to Sion, as in a relaxing day. So

... br> We got off at the second stop, exiting the train to be greeted by a spectacular glacier- covered mountain that looked fake against the brilliant blue sky. To the right we could see the bottom of the Matterhorn, still veiled in clouds. Many pictures later, we sat beside some rocks a short distance away from a small lake that we hoped would mirror the Matterhorn when the clouds finally lifted. ... Zinal. After a couple of hours of sitting on the mountain in the rain, we gave it up and went back down to the Hotel de La Poste and spent much of our time working on our photos. Even the ones you have seen before are better so here they are!
... better. Sometimes a day, an hour or even a few minutes can make an amazing difference in a picture and usually when traveling, the option of a do-over is seldom available.
We spent the rest of our day traveling, eventually winding up in the town of Zinal, Switzerland where we found another wonderful hotel with another wonderful view of the mountains. Ahhh, life is good.
