Sunrise close to Maceio and then we tantalisingly drove past Praia do Frances about 6.30am, where I wanted to be – silly me, didn't ask them to stop as thought it too early to arrive – if only I had known, it would take me until 10am to get back there, just 20km from Maceio! It turns out they actually had local coffee, brewed, if you’re lucky in a big metal urn, but with lots of sugar added – espresso seems to be the keyword to getting a decent one without sugar! ... towns with one main street. After we had checked in we dumped our bags in the room and made our way to the beach. The coastline of Maceió is scattered with reefs, you can take a jangada (like a mini sailboat) about 1km from the shore to a reef with a 'sand platform' which you can stand on and swim around and even get drinks and food in the water. It is best to visit at low tide as the water only comes up to your waist and is clear. Unfortunately ...

    Nice beaches in maceio

... supermarket or the spanish potatoes from kake. Coconuts were cheap at the beach, about 4 reals and the girls wear almost nothing sometimes. But time was too short to do a lot. The only excursion was to barra de sao miguel, a nice town were some marathon or something took place. Just to find the right bus in the center of maceio took me about an hour. But there, the port was really nice, tiny beach and small barraca ...
