      Three countries in one day

      ... are autonomous. Their representatives gather once a month in the capital Bern. Each canton have their own laws etc. Switzerland is not part of the Economic Union and use the Swiss Franc although most shops accept euro notes but will give you francs in change. There is conscription and must serve for 3 weeks a year until they are 40. We arrived in Lucerne around 5.30 and look forward to exploring the city tomorrow. Off for tea now and hope to find fondue.

      ... her on Mount Pilatus. They approached her and wanted to know more about her. Van shrugged them off and came back inside to sit with us. I think they really did believe she was a popstar from Vietnam! #6 - Dinner at Movenpick (Code words 'eagle' and 'apple') It was starting to get dark so we decided to find a place for dinner.       ... the bridge is unique since it contains a number of interior paintings dating back to the 17th century, although many of them were destroyed along with most of the centuries old bridge in a 1993 fire. Subsequently restored, the Kapellbrücke is the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe,as well as the world's oldest surviving truss bridge.It serves as the city's symbol and as one of Switzerland's main tourist attractions.

      ... the town of Lucerne, where we were staying in a renovated jail! Kinda cool but also kinda weird, and claustrophobic.
      We went on a cruise on the lake which was really fun, then headed to dinner where I had super expensive fish'n'chips and watched the others try Swiss fondue.

      It was a quieter night ready for Paris the next day.
