On the last day of our trip, we started off early. I got up before anyone else knowing we were going to Zurich that day. After finishing packing and loading the car we were on the road by 9 AM. Zurich wasn't that far from Luzern so we arrived there pretty early.  When I think about Zurich the first thing that comes to my mind is the Bahnhofstrasse. Not that there is no better place to do shopping but ...

... quite high (though everywhere in Europe seems to be covered in wind turbines and solar panels when compared to sorry Australia). A highly taxed Capitalism seems to work quite well - and Zurich wasn't lacking in it's designer stores, the same as any city. Only the regular stores seem to be at luxury prices when compared to countries like Germany, Czech Republic and Hungary. On Wednesday morning we decided to have a laid back morning around the Fussen village before getting a train to Zurich where we would stop off for two nights. It has a a lot of little shops selling all kinds of things that we got to have a look at before checking out and heading to the station. After a couple of changes of trains that went very smoothly we found ourself at the main station of Zurich, effortlessly finding our way to the hotel and checking in. We ...

... made the train but had a longer search for two seats together for the ride home. It was unfortunate we didn't end up with time to see any of the historical part of Zurich - but that's how it goes with travel sometimes. Back in Lucerne at 7pm it had also stopped raining so we decided to take a walk in the old town. We had had a late lunch so weren't really hungry enough for a sit down dinner - not sure ...

... they were incredibly expensive. If you visit Zurich, beware! Unfortunately the $40 price tag did not make the subs taste any better than your usual Subway sub. We took our subs to go and them on a park bench by the lake. Today we just walked and enjoyed the warm sun on a brisk autumn day in the lakeside park. We have many great things to say about Switzerland, but it is just too expensive for us to stay here any longer. Tomorrow we are Germany bound! ...
