... the trees led us to a very large torii that was built in the waters of Ashinoko along the treeline. Images of this gate, the lake, and Mt. Fuji were advertised all over this region, and it was all quite beautiful to see in person.

We couldn't check in until 2pm unfortunately so we left our luggage and went exploring. Amusingly, we saw the attendant cleaning our luggage wheels in order to keep their establishment clean; how Japanese! Luckily I kept to "never put off until tomorrow what you can do today" because I arrived at Mt Fuji at 3pm on Saturday and immediately went for a walk and got some really nice photos of the mountain. If I had waited until today you would still have had some pictures of the mountain but with a lot of haze.
