... UK from Bergerac. Last year on the Lot, we played leap frog with a large French barge called Kevin. Kevin with a ‘C’ we called it– a family joke about an unfortunate boyfriend and I will leave you to work it out! It’s a huge boat, always taking up the whole of any pontoon and until this year we didn’t realise that it was a commercial business, taking passengers up and down the river. We were having a doze when there was a knock on the door ...

My blogs are a bit like buses; none for weeks and then two at once!

After the hard work of the Tour week and the mad de-commissioning of the chalet for rentals, we both looked forward to our short break on the boat. After stopping for a pizza at Vianne, we arrived to find two other boats tied alongside while their owners were away with the regular nosy parkers here watering the plants. Ex-pats of course, who wasted no more than 5 minutes ...

We were a bit late starting 9.50am as were doing blogs LOL. No a bit to much great food and wine. Anyway we took it nice and easy for the first ten kms then once you warm up the pace quickens to between 20 to 24kms per hr. turned out to be very hot towards the end of the ride.
The first part of the canal was lovely with big trees shading us, the further along we went it was more open and not so pretty, a few other riders but ...

... fast. Rod has got neck problems so he isnt feeling the best, not a good time to have a stiff neck. We think this happened in Bordeaux when he nearly fell off his bike. His wheel got caught in a tram track, he saved himself from a total fall but could have pulled muscles in his shoulder and neck due to all the weight of the paniers on the bike. We enjoyed the shade of the canal this morning by the huge trees and trundled along ...

... to watch a bateaux go through the lock system which is so simple, had a pinic stop and rest as after all the wine etc last night and the extra kms today I was feeling it in my neck muscle.
Where we are tonight is with a Scottish couple who have such a lovely refuge, separate lounge etc, pool. Our dinner was superb, starters, Canard, beans and pomme de terre, home made apricot pie, wine and brandy. the latter not so good to bike 70km today.

          Breakfast brilliant!!!!!!
