... eggs, cheese, cucumber, tomato, bread and tea. After breakfast we headed to a local school. At this point I still did not know what to expect from this visit but what I got was more than you would ever experience in Turkey if you were just a 'normal' tourist. Today was Children's Day, a national holiday in recognition of Turkey's first confederation and the Republic of Turkey being founded. Ataturk announced April 23 would be the day Turkey officially recognise children and ...

Todays plan is to observe the docks when the istanbul ferry would depart and see if it really does go from here. And to go to the beach, swim and read. This seems a fairly conservative place so it will be interesting to see how the do beach. I reckon that ...

A unusual port and interesting day.

A travel blog entry by i_could_walk on Jun 17, 2009

I went easy on the buffet breakfast this morning. The view from the breakfast room is superb; its on the 5th floor and has picture windows all along the sea side. The hotel is about 50 yards back from the sea with the road in front. A conflab with reception revealed that the latest time I could check out was 20.00. One of those moments to look baffled and check; eventually we got to 12.00 and it made sense. So I went upstairs and had a knap. But by 11 I was checked out, the bike ...
