    ... plastic over shoes that came up just below the knee. Christine resorted to buying a pair of leopard patterned gumboots (these nicely match her lovely new dressing gown!)     ... we saw the gondolas and some of the cruise ships.

    Piazza San Marco is enormous and also in danger of sinking below sea level. During high tides, water seeps up through drains and covers the plaza. Platforms are strategically placed to help keep tourists’ toes dry.Evidently, this is a common occurrence, but during our visit the sea didn't rise exceptionally high.

    We stood in line
    for a while at a factory but nobody was being let in so we just left.
    We walked through to the heart of murano making our way to the main
    thoroughfare. Once arriving there we saw the gigantic abundance of
    shops! All selling murano glass. The trick would be to decipher between
    counterfeit glass and authentic glass made on murano. The shops that

    ... Grand Canal and wandered the back streets and found a street market. We bought a punnet of strawberries in a fruit market and sat and ate them on the edge of the canal. Seats are at a premium in Venice and we simply can't afford them. Took a shot of Susie wearing her "where's wally" top on the top of the Rialto bridge. Might sent it to her class.
