... a tourist destination and the town is
filled with tourists ooooing and aaaaahing and taking pictures of absolutely
everything. Watching tourists from all over the world is an experience all on
its own. Of course the town is dominated by the Matterhorn which towers over a
town filled with chalets, hotels, tourist shops and flowers. The Flowers are

        ... ht down for a 1000 meter
vertical descent. Eina. Sore knees and toes were in order and to round it all
off the path was full of stinging nettles and the temperature must have been
close to 30 degrees. Oh well, one has to do these things as well in order to
        appreciate life to the full.

So at last, back to our “house on wheels” and off to our
camp where we washed away our aches and pains with a few cold ones and a Swiss “Boerie”

... br> We got off at the second stop, exiting the train to be greeted by a spectacular glacier- covered mountain that looked fake against the brilliant blue sky. To the right we could see the bottom of the Matterhorn, still veiled in clouds. Many pictures later, we sat beside some rocks a short distance away from a small lake that we hoped would mirror the Matterhorn when the clouds finally lifted. We enjoyed some yummy pastries along with some ...

Today was a rainy day in Zinal, a tiny ski town here in the Alps and almost to the Matterhorn. We hiked to the top of the Col de Sorbois and were able to intermittently see the glacier blue Lac de Moiry but we never got to see the grand ...

... town nature preserve to see the birds and butterflies on their morning rounds. We were rather incongruous with the groups of hikers with their boots and poles and packs and it felt pretty good since we knew that we had done their hike the day before. In fact, we decided that this would be our next manner of travel in Switzerland. So we hopped a bus and then a train and then two more buses through the lovely valleys of Sion and Sierre and ...
