... entered the airport and attempted to find out where the left luggage was. The info people didn't know. One guy behind an airport counter refused to help us, so I lined up at the Airport Info window.

Annette went for a wander outside the building. There are major road and building works being undertaken at the front of the airport. She located the left luggage in the carpark. Success! Back to our new mate, took off the items that we needed and left the others on the ...

    Stepping out in Venice

... I've noticed this about the churches here, that the floors are as decorative as the walls and ceilings. It was coincidence that a busker was singing "Michele" and then I found a shrine to San Michele in the basilica known as I Frari. This created a memory about my Venice to rival any artwork. ... we head out to nearby Santa Margaretha Sq. for some dinner. I forgot how lovely Venice is and we are surprised at how uncrowded it is. We enjoy a lovely dinner in one of the many cafés while trying to keep the kids from chasing the pigeons! Venice is a tangle of little pedestrian streets and canals, so it's easy to get lost. A good map is very helpful! Since we didn't venture far, it was pretty easy to get back home. Now, it's off to bed. Tomorrow we have a big day of ...

... of these things excited me. The last island we visited used to be my favourite - Burano, but whereas it used to be such a quiet little place with its beautiful coloured houses, a few wonderful seafood restaurants and a few little old ladies with lace workshops, it has now been a victim of its own success and has been spoilt. There were far too many people and lace shops (most of the lace wasn't made on the island) and tourist style restaurants rather ...

... not be a problem but we are basically running on a solid 7 hours of sleep for the past three days so it wasn't the happiest news we'd received. When we got into the hostel it was almost pitch black. I'm talking about a real cave-like atmosphere and not in the kitschy themed way, in the horror movie, abandoned house, dungeon way. Ditched our bags there as soon as we got the chance and walked aimlessly through the town for the second time. All this exploring has really ...
