Alright, we made it to Venice! D and I woke up at 4:00 am after just under two hours of sleep, hopped in a taxi and headed to Gatwick airport. The trip took about 45 minutes, and we arrived exactly at 5:00, which was my goal. Now, I'm not a big fan of air travel in the first place. It's not a fear of flying kind of issue, but more of a "this process is ridiculous and takes way too long, not to mention the countless people I am forced to share close quarters with" kind of problem with ...

We found a dinky little restaurant and sampled our first Italian margareita pizzas for lunch.
In the afternoon we headed out on a four ...

We had lunch in the Lido Garden outside and watched Venice disappear. It was an amazing sight. Venice is a truly magnificent city with its canals, water transport, bridges and Byzantine, Moorish and Gothic buildings. At 2pm we had an evacuation drill, at 3.30pm we had coffee and cake, at 4.30pm we had ...
