    Our Final Day in Italy!

    ... pasta and was very popular. It was very highly recommended on TripAdvisor and we definitely would not have found it otherwise. Time to refresh and relax before heading out for our evening shift exploring! The evening exploring was great tonight, we found a restaurant with some large fans which allowed us to stay out on the patio rather than eat inside with the AC, it wasn't quite as cool but was great for people watching... ...

    ... stores full of unusual items. Masks, paintings, leather gloves & purses, jewelry, glass ... It was enough to make me parched. So I headed back to the canal-side seats again for a nice glass of white wine. The place I found had a gorgeous view, and a glass of wine - served with a complimentary little basket of chips - was only 3.50€. That's $4.60 cnd. I ordered a second glass - living the life!!! Now I really don't recommend window shopping after two glasses ...

    Okay I know every city so far has been my favourite but this one surpasses them all. I love Venice oh and did I mention I realllllllllly love Venice. Our day started early as it was a long drive and we left Vienna about 7am. Arriving at Venice, we left the coach and embarked on a ferry that shuttled us to our hotel, The Papadopoli. It is a very nice hotel next to the canal (aren't they all?) with quaint little rooms and true Venetian decor ...

    ... br> Next stop the Dorsoduro district where we stopped for a tasty, cheap lunch with an enjoyable Prosecco in a place about the size of your bedroom, followed by a visit further along to a gelati shop.
    Bacio and Pesca (peach) were my choices on this occasion whilst Phil went all out on Chocolato! We savoured these while walking along the waterfront.

    ... tower - fortunately a lift took us to the top. We were rewarded with the views we had gone there for and with an unexpected bonus! Just as we were waiting for the lift back down, standing directly under the very large bell, and only seconds after I had made the comment "you wouldn't want to be here when the bell chimed" - yep, the bell started to swing into motion! It was midday! Oh my goodness!
