... and very very shallow even towards HW. At one stage we had under a metre under the keel and we did run aground not far from the lock where we were trying to go alongside the wall.

After settling in we wandered into the town. The market was just closing but we still managed a little provisioning. We wandered around the streets and enjoyed the architecture and the atmosphere, quite lively. It's mostly a student town with quite a number of bars and creperies.
