Up the Space Needle before 9.30am to catch the early bird discount, and thankfully this avoided the crowds also. 40 seconds in the elevator to the top 605feet (187m) high the space needle was built in 1962 for the world fair. Amazing views from the top. Once back on the ground we am our way to Chihuly Garden and Glass Art exhibition - WOW. The …

Finger prints scanned, electronic visa waiver processed and printed document stapled into passport. Uneventful - well almost ask Jeanette about the apple! Up early, caught the monorail from downtown, Westlake (4 blocks from hotel) to Seattle Center and went up to top of Space Needle. Wonderful views, even though it was pretty cloudy. Couldn't see Mt. Ranier too well. Then shuttle to Pier 91 to board Holland America ms Westerdam. A good day to cruise off into the sunset. Alaska here we come. Weather is perfect.

A very pleasant flight on Alaska Airlines.

We arrived in Seattle on time. Love this boutique hotel right downtown. Have to get up early, so just charging things up and drinking Alaskan Amber Ale for dinner in the room. Thank you Kevin for joining me on this wonderful journey. Cheers to us!

... and spacious) we headed down to the waterfront for dinner at Ivars. It was great to do something truly local. Clam chowder and fish n chips were a must. The kids became firm friends VERY quickly as their parents were sharing a sense of themselves in chatter about stuff. So we were quickly on the same page with interests which made being tourist easy for all of us. We went home ready for a big day, ...

Hotel 5 was our home away from home on a recent trip to Seattle. Centrally located, it was a 10 minute walk to Pikes Market or Seattle Center and crawling distance to several great restaurants, pubs and live jazz at Tula's!! Only drawback is the really noisy toilets! Sounds like a rocket taking off. Other than that it is way comfy and totally hip.
