... finally arriving at the wrong bus stop - being dodged by the buses we needed to get on to go to the bus station - Mitch eventually throwing himself in front of one of the rare cabs that exist in Irkutsk, and getting the driver, who had more gold in his mouth than a gold mine, to understand where we needed to go - at the suburban bus station, being told no buses run to Lake Baikal this time of year - having a creepy, lurking cabby offer to take us for $300 AUD!!! - ...
Train of thought
... the greatness of this miracle of nature a lot more after the museum visit. After walking around in -10 degree weather we finally find a warm spot to eat and I decide against the local fish and for more Pelmini. After lunch I have a chance to be with the lake for five silent minutes and dive into another moment of peace of mind. We truly are living the high life and were reminded of that when Ryan was having a conversation with Jamie about how we were hoping that on the train from Irkutsk to Moscow that we would be able to buy some roast potatoes from the Babushkas who sell food on the platform. Jamie’s response was "have you heard yourself, excited about the prospect of roast potatoes as a meal"
